The world is quickly approaching the 1.5-degree target of mean planetary warming established by the Paris Agreement as a critical threshold for preventing cascading impacts on social and environmental systems. That situation, referred to by the international community as ‘Overshoot’, is likely to push us toward tipping points where major systems begin to transform radically. As we approach a period of overshoot, the Conflict and Resilience for Interdisciplinary Science and Practices (CRISP) will act as a substantive role to foster interdisciplinary research, enhance practices, and engage the public on the theme of overshoot. CRISP is administratively situated in AC4, a consortium that engages Columbia faculty and researchers and builds bridges with external partners. The network will leverage existing partnerships to advance evidence-based conflict management and resilience while fostering research on the social impacts of climate overshoot. We have a primary focus on promoting intersectional research through student fellowships and public engagement and seek to influence policy through strategic partnerships, structured dialogues, and policy brief development.
