Unit Affiliation: Barnard College, Economics
DESCRIPTION: The project will use a new, global, geocoded dataset on methane emissions from gas flaring over five years from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to examine both the effects of uneven regional environmental regulation on gas flaring and the impacts of air pollution from gas flaring on health and cognitive development in children and adolescents
OUTCOMES: We will examine the impacts of environmental regulation on air pollution from gas flaring and also examine the impacts of air pollution from gas flaring on human capital outcomes, including health and cognitive development in children
DATASETS: New, global, geocoded dataset on methane emissions from gas flaring from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA); Human capital outcomes from World Bank and DHS data, along with primary data collection by researchers
