Investigation of Data-Intensive Discovery Methods for Improved Seismic Monitoring

Lead PI: Dr. Paul G Richards , Dr. David Schaff

Unit Affiliation: Seismology, Geology and Tectonophysics, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO)

May 2011 - August 2018
Inactive
Global
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will develop and evaluate a new framework for seismic monitoring of nuclear explosions by comparing new seismic events directly in terms of how they relate to previously studied signals to drastically improve estimates in location, size, and type of the new event.

OUTCOMES: First year tasks have been completed and presented at four AGU presentations
