DESCRIPTION: CCSI examines how investment treaties (both their substantive standards and dispute settlement mechanisms) can, do, and should impact development and implementation of environmental policy, including, but not limited to, measures related to climate change.

OUTCOMES: CCSI implements this project through a range of activities. These include:

- reviewing all publicly available investor-state arbitration decisions to identify implications those decisions for environmental law and policy;

- organizing workshops designed to analyze climate-friendly trade models and identify lessons learned from existing environmental provisions in trade and investment agreements;

- publishing a range of papers, including one looking at the intersection of investment treaties with climate policy in India, China, and beyond, and one on the meaning of “green FDI” and how investment treaties can catalyze it.
