Permeability and temperature in ODP/IODP Hole 1256

Lead PI: Dr. Gilles Guérin

Unit Affiliation: Marine and Polar Geophysics, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO)

June 2011 - April 2014
Inactive
Pacific Ocean
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The team will use electrical resistivity and the analysis of the transmission and reflection of stoneley sonic waveforms to measure the permeability and temperature of rock to better understand the chemical exchanges between oceanic crust.

OUTCOMES: A number of problems limited expanded penetration into Hole 1256 and limited results, but multiple diverse samples where gathered and analyzed.
