Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: Sediments entering subduction zones contain particulate organic carbon (OC) and inorganic carbon (IC) in carbonate minerals. This project aims to quantify the amount of IC and OC that is being subducted in trench segments worldwide. We will also to calculate the stable C isotope compositions of subducting carbon and compare it to gas compositions for associated arc volcanoes.
