DESCRIPTION: This project supports academic/field training programs to develop innovative and field-relevant research and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree programs in soil science and agronomy in Africa.
OUTCOMES: Enhanced soil science and agronomy graduate programs at select universities in Africa and the identification and definition of dissertation research questions for graduate students at these universities. This project will assist AGRA in ensuring that soil science and agronomy graduate programs in Africa address real-world field research with modern integrated approaches. It will also assist in upgrading the capacities of nine African universities to teach soil science and agronomy at the graduate level. Assistance will also be provided in recruiting high-quality young candidates for graduate programs and helping to integrate the soil health initiative graduate programs with other ongoing field research programs in Africa.
