DESCRIPTION: The team will 1) make the case for new and compelling science that can only be accomplished through drilling, 2) Implement activities that support drilling, 3) expand visibility of ocean drilling to new communities, 4) inform high-level scientific leaders and policymakers of the importance of drilling to science, 5) engage the next generation of drilling scientist in the planning process.

OUTCOMES: deMenocal finalized IODP Science Plan, coauthored and article, contributed to newsletters, co-lead a letter writing campaign, and helped plan for the 2012 workshop.
