Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will allow for drilling in the Dead Sea to extract core samples creating a long term continuous paleo-seismic and climatic archive. Samples will be taken from the cores, analyzed, and the results integrated into climate models.

OUTCOMES: Completed two drilling sites, sent the samples to GFZ-Potsdam for analysis, performed U and Th isotope analyses, performed Sr and Nd isotope analyses, and recruited two post docs and a PhD to assist.
