DESCRIPTION: This project aims to improve water security and enhance resilient agricultural development under climate variability and change in the Philippines. Specifically, it seeks to introduce climate risk management techniques and improve water resource management strategies at both the farm and watershed levels. Also, it works to build the capactity, design, and implementation of climate-risk resilient water resource management policies by local and national governments.
OUTCOMES: IRI developed several tools for agricultural decision supports in Bicol region, Philippine: 1) Climate-Agriculture Modeling Decision Tools (CAMDT) for exploring crop management scenarios given a seasonal climate forecast, 2) WEAP model scenrios for water use and allocation at the sub-watershed scale, and 3) Knowledge Sharing Portal and Maproom (KSPM) for disseminating available data and model-generated information. IRI also has conducted annual technical workshops for capacity building of local stakeholders.
