Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: This project involves the development of a smart catalytic system that combines Mg and Si targeting ligands for mineral dissolution with enzymatic catalyst for CO2 hydration. Using this technology, we plan to directly mineralized CO2 in flue gas. Thus, the energy intensive solvent regeneration and CO2 compression steps can be eliminated in the overall CCS scheme.

OUTCOMES: This project has resulted in patent applications and several conference presentations. A manuscript is currently in development.
