GCRP Compound Risk Analytics Seasonal Natural Hazard Risk Metrics

DESCRIPTION: Working with the World Bank Group’s (WBG) Global Crisis Risk Platform, the IRI team led by PI Kruczkiewicz will compile meteorological and geophysical risk information relevant to development and humanitarian operations (over 1 week – 3 month timescales) and Devise metrics to aggregate the various risks into simple country-level outlooks that are compatible with the CRM’s methodology. This entails generating country risk profiles ranging from 0 (low hazard risk) to 10 (high hazard risk). Insights from the actions listed above are likely to feed into the conceptual and methodological framework guiding the CRM. Where relevant, findings may support WBGs future efforts to quantify the interactions between different drivers of compound risk.
