Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project seeks to use 234U-depletion rates to define the comminution age of sediment in the Gulf of Aqada back to around 100,000 years ago. This will help describe the qualitative and quantitative constraints between climate change, continental weathering, and ocean chemistry.

OUTCOMES: The team has completed a detailed sampling campaign of marine cores, a sampling of bedrock, processing of marine samples, compiling globally representative sediment samples, separating and picking of marine foraminifers, recruiting an early career scientist, and participating in the 4th Kaplan workshop.
