DESCRIPTION: Ethiopia, a country with diverse topography and subsequent complex climate, is endemic to malaria. This puts over half of the population at risk. Future elimination and ultimate eradication of malaria requires strong analytical capacity and an informed national program. A recent study has reported that malaria transmission has pushed up hills due to warming in the last decades. IRI and EPHI plan to collaborate for capacity building of EPHI staff through research. This will involve conducting a time series analysis of rainfall and temperature patterns against malaria cases in selected districts. The findings could be uses for operational interventions through stratification and timely interventions.
