DESCRIPTION: To help determine if paleoclimate variability is partially responsible for the rise of the Mongolian Empire, the team will collect tree-ring samples from central Mongolia to reconstruct drought records and grassland productivity records. Potential causes of wet/dry periods will be reconstructed using models.
