Global
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will work to develop the equations and parameters that define production rates at all points and over geological time to improve cosmogenic dating techniques. This includes three main goals: 1) establishing a rigorous basis for intercomparison between measurement of different nuclides and different investigators; 2) provide a firm linkage between cosmic-ray physics and the systematics of the TCN produced by some cosmic rays; and 3) to produce generally-accepted formulations and parameters for calculation of TCN production.

OUTCOMES: Have shown that accuracy can be up to 3% or better. Production rates have been constrained in many areas. Four journal publications.
