Collaborative Research: Dynamics of dissolved organic phosphorus production, composition and bioavailability along a natural marine phosphate gradient

Lead PI: Sonya Dyhrman

Unit Affiliation: Biology and Paleo Environment, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO)

March 2018 - February 2021
Global ; Palisades, NY ; Honolulu, HI
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will provide foundational information on the role of dissolved organic phosphorus in supporting phytoplankton primary production by investigating how DOP molecular characteristics translate into P-bioavailability to marine microorganisms, and in turn how microorganisms growing under different dissolved inorganic nitrogen: dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIN:DIP) impact the composition and bioavailability of DOP.
