DESCRIPTION: The project will provide foundational information on the role of dissolved organic phosphorus in supporting phytoplankton primary production by investigating how DOP molecular characteristics translate into P-bioavailability to marine microorganisms, and in turn how microorganisms growing under different dissolved inorganic nitrogen: dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIN:DIP) impact the composition and bioavailability of DOP.
