DESCRIPTION: The members of the Northeast Climate Science Center (NECSC) are pioneering new analytical and science support tools for landscape scale analyses of climate change effects, and regional conservation networks for developing climate adaptation and mitigation strategies by diverse stakeholders. NECSC is part of a federal network of eight Climate Science Centers created to provide scientific information, tools, and techniques that managers and other parties interested in land, water, wildlife and cultural resources can use to anticipate, monitor, and adapt to climate change. The members of the Northeast Climate Consortium will develop a Climate Science Plan to determine the research goals and priorities of the NECSC.
OUTCOMES: The Climate Science Plan will result from consultation with federal and state agencies, Tribes, Landscape Conservation Cooperatives, Nongovernmental Organizations, landowners, and business groups with concerns about regional climate impacts. Two advisory groups will be identified to assist the NECC in development and execution of the Science Plan: The Climate Science Plan will result from consultation with federal and state agencies, Tribes, Landscape Conservation Cooperatives, Nongovernmental Organizations, landowners, and business groups with concerns about regional climate impacts. Two advisory groups will be identified to assist the NECC in development and execution of the Science Plan: a Stakeholder Advisory Council will guide the research planning process and approve the Climate Science Plan; and a Science Implementation Panel will participate in proposal review and maintain focus on the science priorities of the Climate Science Plan.
