DESCRIPTION: The LDEO team will provide consultant support to the UCAR project to understand environmental risks associated with meningitis by developing international partners, doing research, and attending team meetings.

OUTCOMES: IRI has: implemented three dust monitoring station in the Sahel; done a spatial and temporal analysis of environmental and demographic risk factors in meningitis outbreaks in Niger; archived and validated mineral dust products; collected and archived epidemiological data for 13 countries; constructed a database of sources documenting migration in Niger; and participated in the Fourth Biannual Colloquium on Climate and Health.
