- Project Type: Research
DESCRIPTION: The project will explore what controls the emergence and early evolution of segmentation and magmatism in young rifts and how they relate to extension in time and space. The team will acquire and analyze a dense multi-faceted geophysical, geochemical, and geological dataset in the northern Lake Malawi region.
OUTCOMES: Installed a network of GPS stations and analyzed existing GPS data, 117 volcanic samples collected and returned to LDEO for analysis, and presented a poster at GeoPRISMS.
