Unit Affiliation: Geochemistry, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO)
DESCRIPTION: The project will attempt to determine if source dust in the Western and Eastern Antarctic Ice Sheets are different as GCMs imply by using isotope-based provenance data from ice cores. Cores will be tested for Sr-Nd isotope signatures and integrated with existing high-resolution data.
OUTCOMES: Protocols have been developed for the LDEO ultra-clean laboratory to process samples, the first of which have been completed.
