- Project Type: Research
DESCRIPTION: The project will support drilling, coring, and logging of a pilot hole through the Triassic Newark Basin formations at LDEO to understand the subsurface geology, stratigraphy, and petrophysics. Results will contribute to understanding the feasibility of permanently and safely sequestering CO2 in Triassic basin formations.
OUTCOMES: Tandem Lot #1 drill hole was completed to 7,000 feet and data collected has been presented at the 2011 American Geophysical Union fall meeting. More detailed interpretation work has been begun and permitting for a second hole has begun. Sandia Technologies, LLC has issued a stop work order effective May 1st, 2013.
