South America ; Uruguay
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: IRI will develop a literature review on the use of remote sensing; create a MODIS image bank; collect field data to work with MODIS; collect soil and crop information for the calibration of DSSAT models for corn and soybeans; and work on estimates for the Water Requirement Satisfaction Index of maize. Calibrate and validate the Century model for simulating pasture growth and production in different agro-ecological zones, claibrate and test crop simulation models and explore remote sensing methods

OUTCOMES: Calibrated Hyperion imaging to identify corn and soybean crops with over 80% accuracy. Most other results are listed in Spanish.
