Diagnosing Decadal-Scale Climate Variability in Current Generation Coupled Models for Informing Near-term Climate Change Impacts

Lead PI: Dr. Lisa Goddard

Unit Affiliation: International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI)

July 2008 - June 2013
Inactive
Global
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project has three objectives: 1) Determine the fidelity of oceanic decadal variability using CGCMs; 2) Develop metrics and baselines for estimating the quality of decadal predictions; and 3) Design climate information products for risk management and planning. This will be done through assembling a qualified team, using baselines, examining the impact of initialization, examining the quality of models, and dealing with biases.
