DESCRIPTION: The objective is to produce linked drought and crop productivity nowcasts and forecasts using the best available satellite-based information. These drought and productivity products will be directly available for use by decision makers and farmers in Africa via the SERVIR Africa node.

OUTCOMES: NASA JPL developed The Regional Hydrologic Extremes Assessment System (RHEAS), software for hydrologic modeling and data assimilation that automates the deployment of water resources nowcasting and forecasting applications. IRI has evaluated the RHEAS, specifically crop productivity.
