DESCRIPTION: The project will intercompare major representative Global High-Resolution Sea Surface Temperature products, describe their biases and time-varying errors in a uniform and consistent way, characterize their effective spatial and temporal resolution and to analyze the distribution of their error over different time and space scales, and to track the error characteristics of Level 4 products in the error in their input data and to their analyses techniques.

OUTCOMES: There was on average good skill of the proposed error model but significant underestimations of error variance in eddy-rich ocean regions due in part of the heterogeneous behavior of in situ data mixture from different platforms. Separating platforms reduces error.
