Atlantic Ocean ; New Jersey ; United States
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will examine three cores from three holes drilled off the coast of New Jersey to determine: 1) the date of late Paleogene-Neogene despositional sequences; 2) the corresponding amplitudes, rates, and mechanisms of sea level change; 3) sequence stratigraphic facies models to predict despostional environments, sediment compositions, and stratal geometries in response to sea level change. This will be done by performing numerical backstripping and running a forward stratigraphic model.
