Communications
The primary focus of the Communications Office is communicating the overarching mission of the Climate School to our key audiences, including the general public. Although the team is unable to support all communications needs for every center and program initiative, the team continually offers advice and can be more directly involved with advance notice. Please complete the Communications Request Form for our services, which are described below.
We edit and manage State of the Planet, our Columbia Climate School news site, including feature stories, press releases, student and faculty profiles, Q&As, and more. Have a story? Interested in writing for State of the Planet? Learn more.

We write and disseminate press releases and media advisories on selective basis, and manage inquiries from journalists. We also photograph and write about ongoing fieldwork, and let journalists know of opportunities to cover it. Both in group settings and individually, we provide training for staff on speaking to the media. We ask that you share information with us about ongoing work, and about upcoming publications upon acceptance by a journal so that we can evaluate their media potential.
