BIOGRAPHY:
Andrew Miller is Assistant Dean of Research Development and Administration in the Office of Research at The Columbia Climate School. With over 17 years of experience advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic research operations, he plays a pivotal role in empowering earth and environmental scientists and sustainability experts to pursue high-impact, grant opportunities. His leadership spans Pre- and Post-Award grant management, proposal development, and institutional strategy, all in service of the School’s research community and mission to drive transformative climate action.
Before his current role, Andrew held several key positions at Columbia’s Earth Institute, where he led grants management, international operations, and financial oversight for global research initiatives. He coordinated complex funding portfolios, administered seven international affiliate offices, and assisted with due diligence reports for global partnerships. His work consistently bridged administrative precision with visionary planning, enabling researchers to thrive across borders and disciplines.
Andrew’s academic foundation includes a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where he contributed to a UN WFP climate change report. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Natural Science from Midland University, and has completed postbaccalaureate studies in energy efficiency and green building design. His CRA and LEED credentials highlight a strong commitment to excellence in research administration and a forward-thinking approach to sustainable innovation.
