BIOGRAPHY: I am trained as an ecosystem ecologist, specialized at terrestrial ecosystem modeling, and also broadly interested in agriculture, climatology, and Earth system sciences. The goal of my research is to understand how ecosystems respond to climate change and feedback to the Earth system. I have developed ecosystem biogeochemical models, vegetation demographic models, and Bayesian data assimilation approaches to study vegetation dynamics, fire-vegetation feedbacks, ecosystem carbon-water interactions, and ecosystem biogeochemical cycles. My current research is to develop a plant traits-based terrestrial biosphere model to predict global vegetation dynamics and biogeochemical cycles within an Earth system modeling framework.
