BIOGRAPHY:
Hyae Ryung (Helen) Kim is a PhD Student in Sustainable Development. Her fields of interest are environmental and financial economics with a focus on climate and sustainability. Helen uses a range of interdisciplinary approaches in her research to study complex climate problems and develop effective and equitable solutions. Current research studies include examining the role of climate finance and sustainable investment in discerning how to effectively estimate climate change challenges and promote the transition to a net-zero economy. Prior to joining the Columbia PhD program Helen worked at PwC and the African Development Bank. She was a PhD candidate and a Research Fellow in Innovation Economics at Berlin University of Technology. She holds a BS in Chemical and Biological Engineering and MS in Technology Management, Economics, and Policy from Seoul National University.
