Hyunjoo Lee

BIOGRAPHY:

Hyunjoo is a 4th-year PhD candidate at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in New York. Her research centers on understanding the volatile cycling processes within volcanic systems. She specializes in applying isotope geochemistry and experimental petrology techniques to investigate how carbon behaves and transforms in magmatic environments.

Hyunjoo's recent work involves measuring carbon isotopes in melt inclusions and silicate glasses, and notably includes developing international reference standards for carbon isotope analysis in silicate glasses using Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS). This work aims to significantly enhance the accuracy and comparability of carbon isotope data in geological research.
