Lecturer,

BIOGRAPHY:

I am the Assistant Director of Curriculum Development in the Center for Science and Society and a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology. As a cultural anthropologist and STS researcher, I investigate data collection and surveillance in higher education in the U.S., focusing on technologies such as predictive analytics, learning management systems, and other student information systems and classroom technologies. My current work, supported by the National Science Foundation, is animated by questions about subjectivity and marginality among students in changing regimes of data collection in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At Columbia, my pedagogical work includes developing an STS curriculum in the form of a forthcoming undergraduate minor and teaching and supporting interdisciplinary co-taught courses.
