BIOGRAPHY:
Maya Moore is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) at the Columbia Climate School. She is a social scientist with a focus on food security and nutrition, biodiversity conservation and the gendered dimensions of climate change adaptation among smallholder farmers. With 20 years of international conservation and development experience, she has worked across West Africa (Niger), Madagascar, Southeast Asia (Thailand) and Central America (Guatemala). In her current position she is exploring the gendered dimensions of climate information services in Guatemala and sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), as well as seed adoption in SSA and India. Maya holds a transdisciplinary PhD in Food Systems and a graduate certificate in Agroecology from the Gund Institute for Environment at the University of Vermont. She also has an MA in Sustainable International Development and a BS in Biology and French. Her dissertation research focused on food procurement strategies and agricultural decision-making among forest-edge smallholder farmers in Madagascar. Other research interests include gender dimensions of climate change adaptation and climate change's impact on farmer livelihoods, health, and migration.
