BIOGRAPHY:

Peter Gmelch is a project officer on the Climate School's Office of Research pre-award team. Working closely with administrators at various departments at the Lamont campus, he assists in grant proposal development and submission for faculty and staff.

Prior to joining the Climate School's Office of Research, Peter was a project manager overseeing several multiyear NSF grants at New York University Tandon's Center for Urban Science + Progress. During his time there he led stakeholder relations with a mixture of NGOs, private and professional organizations, city governments offices, and both national and international academic partners, all of whom shared a common goal of urban resilience, adaptation, and mitigation to the climate crisis in NYC's coastal communities.

Most notably, Peter worked closely with a division of the NYC Mayor's Office in the succesful pursuit of $10M in follow on funding to continue the work done by his team through the NSF CIVIC Program. Peter holds an MA in Environmental Conservation Education from New York University and a BS in Environmental Science and Sustainability from SUNY Oneonta.
