BIOGRAPHY: R. Daniel (Danny) Bressler is a fifth year PhD Student in Sustainable Development at Columbia University. His research interests include environmental economics, international relations, conflict, and dual-use technologies. He is also a Global Priorities Fellow with the Forethought Foundation. Danny graduated from Brown University in 2012 magna cum laude and phi beta kappa with a double major in economics and history.

Prior to beginning doctoral studies, he worked from 2015-2017 as a Research Associate at the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School. His responsibilities there included academic research as well as providing strategic advice to CEOs of large companies along with the Institute’s Director, Michael Porter. From 2012-2014, he worked as a strategy consultant for Altman Vilandrie & Company, where he specialized in advising companies in the technology, media, and telecommunications industries. He has also held internship positions at Goldman Sachs and The Onion (America’s Finest News Source). Outside of research, Danny enjoys jazz, weightlifting, rugby, backcountry backpacking, and competitive stair climbing.
