BIOGRAPHY:
Rémi Cousin received his degree in engineering from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Nancy (equivalent to a master’s degree), with majors in geo-sciences, in 2005. After specializing in physical oceanography through internships in l’Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) and Mercator-Océan, Toulouse, France, and Universidad de Concepción in Chile, Cousin worked for CLS (Collecte Localisation Satellite), a subsidiary of CNES, as a consultant at Mercator-Océan to develop user-friendly tools to run and post-process Mercator ocean models dedicated to operational oceanography. He then worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, California, developing a public outreach and education Web site on ocean salinity in the context of the co-developed NASA satellite mission Aquarius, and conducting research to support the activities of the OurOcean group, focusing on regional ocean models. Role at the IRI Since 2008, Cousin has been a member of the IRI Data Library, which disseminates science-based climate information to its user community. To fulfill this task, Cousin assists in research activities, and engages with user communities through collaborative work or training workshops.
